James and the Giant Peach
Laurence is creating music for a new production of the beloved Roald Dahl classic at the Royal Theatre in Northampton. The show is bursting with quirky songs, live music and of course a truely giant peach! The show runs from the 13th to the 28th of June. Box Office 01604 624811.

In the Shadow of Trees
Laurence will be performing this autumn in Horse and Bamboo’s award winning show “In the Shadow of Trees” in Lancaster, Huddersfield and the Stourbridge International Mask Festival. The provisional performance schedule is available on the “Calendar” page.
Ocean Project Live Weekend
Laurence has created a sound installation for the Barbican Theatre and the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth as part of the Ocean project Live Weekend. This new piece called “The Ocean Misses A Beat” uses recordings of the sea made at Heybrook Bay, Devon which Laurence visited often as a child. The piece is a both accessible and challenging, and a thought provoking contribution to Pymouth’s Summer arts festival. The Ocean Project Live Weekend is on the 30th of June and the 1st of July.
The Firebrand
Laurence has begun work on his second show for The Royal and Derngate Theatre in Northampton, he is composer and musical director for a new play by Justin Butcher “The Firebrand”. The piece is an exciting and magical piece of promenade theatre, involving all the performance spaces of the Royal and Derngate. The piece will be performed at the beginning of September.

Den Store Bastian
Teatret Thalias Tjenere’s new outdoor show has now had its premiere at the world’s largest children’s theatre festival, held each year in Denmark. The piece is a version of the delightfully gruesome children’s classic “Den Store Bastian (Shockheaded Peter)”. Laurence’s music for the show ranges from musicboxes sabotaged by Björk’s drum machine to a miniature tragical ballet. The piece is directed by Thingamajig Theatre’s Andrew Kim. Thalias Tjenere will be touring this piece and Sans in Denmark and Sweden during summer 2007.
Twelfth Night
During January ’07 Laurence will be creating original music for a production of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”. All the music is live, written for an ensemble of violin, cello and guitar. The show opens on the 26th of January at the recently refurbished Royal Theatre in Northampton. Direction of this bitter sweet comedy is by The Royal and Derngate’s Artistic Director, Laurie Sansom.

Elegies...
Rehearsals have started for the Danish premiere of Janet Hood’s musical “Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens” (in Danish “Minder om Engler, Punks og Vilde Queens”). Laurence will be musically directing this powerful show about the effect of HIV and AIDS for a charity performance. This will take place on the 30th November, 2006 at Turbinehallens Teatersal in Århus, Denmark. Direction is by Sanne Wiwe, producer Michael Ehlers and is supported by the Jascha Fund, the Danish Actors Union, STOP AIDS and Århus council.
